What Causes Global Warming?

Share on TwitterSubmit to StumbleUponDigg This

Global warming is the global increase of temperatures cause by extra heat being trapped by the greenhouse gases. Yes, this process causes the earth to get warmer but its not that simple. Its important to understand the effects of increase temperatures in the environment, what creates higher temperatures and the operation of the greenhouse effect. Furthermore, this article will focus on the causes of global warming.

At night the Earth turns away from the sun. In addition, the Earth has a natural way of warming the environment at night to keep from freezing. The natural way of warming is the Greenhouse Effect. There are carbon gasses in the air that act like a greenhouse and capture the heat energy. Also, the heat energy is trapped inside but allows light energy to come through. The gases in the air are also called greenhouse gases. The light ray from the sun strikes earths atmosphere and the light energy is absorbed. The light energy is turned into thermal energy which is heat. The heat shines off the surface of the Earth and becomes trapped by greenhouse gases. Some of the heat will escape but most of it is capture by the Greenhouse Effect. As well as, the Greenhouse Effects maintains life on earth by controlling the temperature of Earth. If not, there would be a major difference between temperatures between night and day. In any case, this would lead to freezing temperatures at night and have a major affect on different species that populate the Earth.

Global Warming is created when too much of greenhouse gasses are let into the atmosphere. In addition, the overabundance of carbon is created from burning fossil fuels and this process magnifies the greenhouse effect. This leads to a thick layer of carbon gasses hanging over the atmosphere and able to capture more heat. Also, this will lead to less heat shining off the Earths surface and the heat being unable to break off into space.

The temperature on Earth is caused by changes in latitude and closeness to ocean currents. In addition, the ocean currents spread heat around the Earth. Warming can affect temperatures around the world but all temperatures will not become warmer. For instance, areas that are near the equator are warmer and places close to the poles are colder. This is because different latitudes of the earth receive more or less energy from the sun. Moreover, ocean currents have an effect on rather temperatures will increase in all regions of the Earth.

There are many factors that affect the reaction of the Greenhouse Effect. In addition, the glaciers in Greenland are expected to melt and slow down the Gulf Stream which will result in warmer temperatures for Western Europe. Furthermore, the process of global warming is very involved and could possibly destroy life on Earth.

There are a number of options for purchasing an eco-friendly car such as hybrid, fuel cell, electric and bio-ethanol. In addition, some buyers are confuse about which car is the best and environment safe. Many people are unaware that automotive companies have been researching green technology for a number of years. Furthermore, this article focus on the options for finding a car that is environmental friendly.

Hybrid cars are options for people looking for an eco-friendly car. In addition, the hybrid car uses two energy sources. Most of the hybrid cars on the market use petrol combustion engines and electric motors. Batteries are used to power the electric motor when the vehicle is traveling at low speeds. The petrol engine gives the car more power when traveling at higher speeds. Hybrid cars dont need to be plugged into an electric outlet or charged. As well as, the Toyota Prius is one of the popular models for a hybrid car. In short, hybrid cars produce less pollution and dont release any carbon dioxide gasses.

Electric cars dont require any type of gas in order for the car to run on the road. Many electric motors can achieve 90% energy conversion rate. In addition, electric cars should be combined with regenerative braking systems. The braking system can take moving energy and convert the energy back into stored energy. Also, this can help with the wear on the brake system and reduce the amount of energy used to travel to a destination. Electric cars are great options for environmentally friendly cars but depend on how the electricity is produce to power the car. Moreover, a wind turbine would be the most eco-friendly way to generate electricity to charge the car.

Automotive companies like Chrysler, Volvo and Ford produce biofuel cars. In addition, vehicles can become more energy efficient with a mix of renewable fuels. Also, biofuel uses resources from foods to make mechanical energy for cars. Many experts are against the use of biofuel because it could cause the prices of foods to rise. It would be more cost effective if biofuel was made from new energy sources or waste products.

There a number of developments being made each year in the automotive field for energy efficient cars. In addition, there are some cars that are powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. Furthermore, automotive are working to develop more environmentally friendly cars for consumers.

Green Architecture 5 Basic Building Tips

Share on TwitterSubmit to StumbleUponDigg This

Sustainable architecture or green architecture is terms that can be used interchangeably. In addition, sustainable architecture is designing a building with the environment in mind. Some buildings can have a negative impact on the environment. Most people that get involved with sustainable architecture want to build efficient buildings and use materials within moderation while being conscious of the environment. Moreover, sustainable architecture consists of efficient use of energy, building space and materials. In todays society, its important to use an environment conscious approach to building design for future generations.

House Size

Most large homes use a lot of energy for the home to fully function. In addition, it takes a lot of material to build a large home. Choosing a smaller home will use less materials and less energy.

Install Solar Panes

It would be more efficient and less impact on the environment to generate solar energy. Also, this will save money on utility bills and you could sell energy back to the utility company. In addition, it would save on money to install your own solar panes and wind turbine into the home.

Conserving Water

When considering green architecture, the house should be built with the effective use of water with as little as possible of wasting water. The building should be installed with energy efficient shower heads, toilet, flow restrictors and faucet aerators. Also, planting flowers that require little water can minimize water use for the landscape.

Renewable Energy

It is important to conserve fossil fuels and find other ways to produce electricity. For example, you can make use of natural resources like the wind, sun and water to produce energy in the home.

Use Natural Materials for Building

Many homes or buildings can be built with natural resources. An example of natural resources for building are mud, bricks, tiles, paper, bamboo and glass. Also, building materials should be bought from the local area to cut down on transportation costs and any other environmental factors.

Most sustainable buildings should be cost effective and well insulated. This is possible with a productive heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system. In addition, solar water heaters are energy efficient and are fueled by sunshine. This is an alternative to using a regular water heater in the home.

Also, some people have air source heat pumps installed in their homes. Heat pumps work like a reversible air conditioner. It takes cool air and puts the cool air in a hot space. The goal of green architecture is to build a complete energy efficient building and every day we are getting closer to reaching that goal.

Reasons for the Melting Ice Caps

Share on TwitterSubmit to StumbleUponDigg This

Many people think the melting ice caps are the cause of carbon dioxide but this is not true. In addition, the reason for the melting is the ocean and salt water. There are a number of small rivers that flow fresh water into the ocean. The water from the river is getting used up before reaching the ocean and the ocean is receiving less fresh water. Also, the ocean is able to stay salty because of the process of evaporation. Some of the salty water freezes around the Polar Regions. This will lead to less fresh water coming into the ocean and the salty water will melt the polar ice caps. Furthermore, if the balance of the salinity of the ocean becomes unstable then this threatens the condition of the ice caps.

Some water is kept on land and the water never goes back into the ocean. For example, water is used for flowers, crops and grass. In addition, water is used for swimming, theme parks and fish aquariums. Also, the water used on land ends up evaporating into the air from spraying of the water. More water enters the air because water on land is moved to places where the water is needed. Eventually, the water from the air will flow into the ocean. On the other hand, the water goes through a number of changes before entering the ocean. For example, the water forms clouds and confines the earth. The clouds will compete with other clouds for space and this will cause wind, thunder storms, turbulence in the ocean and hurricanes. Moreover, this will lead to evaporating and confining of more clouds. Also, this will lead to warmer weather which will cause the melting of the ice caps.

Underground lakes and aquifers is another source of water that enters into the atmosphere. In addition, lakes and aquifers are used to water the crops and feed families. Water from these bodies of water and used in this manner would have a hard time evaporating. Also, this would lead to more excess water for the environment to handle. The environment seems to be changing every day. The Earth is experiencing warmer temperatures, smaller polar ice caps and active weather. Many people want to know a solution for this problem but its not that simple. It would be impossible to stop watering crops or to empty the dams. If a solution is not found fast then Mother Nature might take care of the problem.

The rising temperature are affecting the glaciers and causing them to melt. There is a possibility that the melting of polar caps will cause the sea levels to rise. It could help to reduce the use of natural resources and find alternatives. Furthermore, it is important to find ways to reduce the risk of melting ice caps.
